HOW I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED SONIC KABOOM

SONIC KABOOM 1

The heroes would continue gathering the Chaos Crystals. During that quest they run into Shadow a couple of times, who taunts and fight them, to test them. The first time he holds back and the four of them fall behind, but as they grow stronger, the heroes are able to go one-on-one with Shadow. They also fight the guardians protecting the crystals. One of them Shadow takes with him to be rebuilt as Omega.

They would meet Sticks, who appears a nutty little jungledweller, who always refers to a seemingly ordinary rock as her brother ‘Stones’. A running gag is Sticks, who claims to know where the next crystal is, to drag her ‘brother’ alon. To prove themselves, they have to stop some indistrualists who want to destroy the jungle to build hotels. Unfortunately, it is led by Sally’s father Max and his slimy lawyer Hamlin.

They can’t legally take action against Max…until Max pushes a button and tries to have Sticks harmed. Stones is then revealed to be the dormant form of one of the Crystal Guardians and the only biological one, a huge ageless rock lobster, who can only say his name. He makes Hamlin wet himself as he roars ‘STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONES!!” in the much smaller Hamlin’s face and blowing his clothes off with the sound of his voice.

Because the rock lobsters are long extinct, Sally invokes a lawsuit concerning endangered species that will prevent Max from building his hotels in the jungle, humiliating him. Sally tries to have him tell what happened to her mother and brother, but refuses to tell.

Lily Bluebird serves as Max’s chief of security, but she turns on him when he sees how cruel he is and instead is hired by Sally. And she gets really close to Amy.

During another quest, they come across Perci. She is the last of a line of guardians who has protected a temple and a crystal. But this crystal powers a machine that keeps a clan of warmongering echidnas, the Nocturnus, trapped inside another dimension. However, Lyric steals it, almost setting an army upon the world. With the crystals the heroes already have they close the portal, this time more stable and seemingly permanently, but several key figures like Finitevus have come out. Oh, and Perci also gets close to Knuckles.

One of the final crystals would be acquired with the help of Fiona Fox. Fiona was taken in by the bounty hunter Nic after her parents dissapeared. But Nic went missing in action after a fight with her cruel brother. Lyric promised Fiona to help track Nic down in exchange for spying for him. But she gets betrayed and regrets her actions as well and makes up with the heroes.

Eggman is forced into service of Lyric. But he does not agree with his methods. One time Lyric’s actions caused an innocent bystander to be injured, and out of regret Eggman revives her as a cyborg named Bunnie Rabbot.

During another quest, they meet Rotor, who is responsible for the ferry that carries people around the island groups in the jungle, but has a love for tinkering. Seeking a bit of excitement, he gladly helps the heroes in their quest, even taking on Eggman’s forces with a hyper-modified ferry boat.

Eggman would later unveil the rebuilt guardian of Lyric’s tomb, who is remodeled in the image of Sonic and is renamed Metallix. He is equipped with a copy chip to copy the heroes’ power, and they only barely survive their encounter with him.

Malika would reveal her backstory to the heroes when she asks for their help breaking Lyric’s hold over Eggman. She was from a poor family, of which her father was forced to make a deal with criminals to get meds for his sick wife. However, things turned wrong and the criminals killed him. Her mother succumbed to her illness and she ended up on the streets.

Malika would end up in an underground fighting ring. But the fights would be rigged and she refused to fight dishonestly. However, this didn’t sit well with her ‘manager’ and she had her face scarred in a fight she could not win. Eggman stumbled upon her, saved her life before she could be harmed any further, and developed her mask as a way to block out the pain she suffered as a result of the scarring. Since then Malika has loved Eggman and was devoted to him.

Lyric’s background was also tragic. He once was a friend of the Ancients, who were devoted to protecting the Crystals. However, the Ancients’ duty turned to an obsession and they would gladly sacrifice many things to keep the crystal safe against their neverending fight with the Nocturni…Lyric was one of those. But Lyric survived and was vengeful. The Ancients barely managed to seal him at the cost of their own lives.

Lyric then reveals that he, alongside the Ancients and so are the heroes, demigods. They had at least one parent who was actual a Mobian Entity. And the crystals can only be wielded by those who have holy blood, which the heroes have.

Despite it all, the heroes finally reach Lyric, take the crystals and use them to assume super forms to defeat Lyric. However, Sonic insists they spare him, becaue Lyric was tragic. They even try saving him as his temple collapses upon them. Lyric, seeing the good they have done and being so unlike their predecessors, teleports them out of the temple, sacrificing himself.

The world is saved, Eggman escapes but on better terms with the heroes, the four get together with their love interests, and continue with a new quest: finding out more about the Gods whom they got thier parentage from.

Meanwhile, Metallix reawakens, and it seems he seems much more sapient.

Finitevus is also preparing a master plan of sorts.

Shadow gives his blessing to the heroes and returns to his own mentor, the digitized mind of Professor Gerald. We also see Maria in a stasis pod, and learn Shadow is an artificial demigod created by Professor Gerald…
It only goes to the first entry, because I hadn't thought of it that far ahead. But I don't think I am going to pick it up again.
